Neist Point in Glendale is the most Westerly point on the Isle of Skye. The lighthouse, which is now fully automated was built in 1909. Scotland, March 2010.
Howling winds and torrential rain made this a particularly challenging shot to get. Many thanks to Julie and Steve of Carters Rest Guest House for helping us dry out on our return. Carters Rest is a fabulous place to stay if you are in Glendale and is also very near to the famous Three Chimneys restaurant. Highly Recommended! http://www.cartersrestskye.co.uk/
4 manual exposure tone mapped image from a Canon 5d Mark II, EF16-35 2.8 L II and 10 stop ND filter. Processed with Photomatix, Raw and Photoshop.
i’m just going to have to buy some ND filters!!! gorgeous and i love the silky waters…. yea, i understand about that wind…. (i could tell you stories!). beautiful image!!!
lol, the wind at Neist is legendary! I love the effect from the ND filters especially the 10 stop but I just upgraded to the Lee system (after this was taken, Heliopan on this.) which was a painfully expensive hit to the bank at £500+! Many thanks!

Great shot Roddy. Looks pretty isolated yet beautiful, Eros
Thank you very much, it is a stunning place but quite an exposed long walk down to the lighthouse and a bit of a hike back up but worth every minute!
