Cropped
Location: Dane County Farmers’ Market; State Capitol Square, Madison, WI

Farmers’ Market is a tough place to photograph anything; it is usually very crowded, unless you’re there at the crack of dawn when it opens. So, on this excursion, I didn’t look at the “big picture”. The performer was part of a South American group. I like the smoothness of his hand.

Thanks for the comments; they are helpful and encouraging. I hope to try more hand studies w/ musicians and artists; any other ideas? I got the inspiration from a WI photog, Zane Williams, who had a photo of a farmer’s hands in one of his books. It said so much about the hard work of the farmer. Zane, by the way, was one of the photogs for Life’s “Christmas In America” book and his photo of a WI barn was chosen for a postage stamp.

    Excellent perspective.

  • Thanks for checking my portfolio, eh. (Where I grew up in Wisconsin, it was “hey”, probably influenced by so many Finns)
