This is the My Friend Jenny doll, put out by Fisher-Price in 1979. This doll belonged to my mother, who passed away in 1983 at age 73. She told me once that she had never had a brand new doll of her own, so I gave her this doll for Christmas. I remember that the doll came with two left shoes instead of a right and a left. It wasn’t too big a deal looking back on it, but my Mom’s first real doll had to be perfect, so I wrote to Fisher-Price and they sent me the correct shoe. Funny the things we remember. The doll is now mine, and she is still in her original clothes, although the elastic in her sleeves and waist is long gone. I think she looks cute with a bit of a “cinemascope” treatment.

Having lived most of my life in the northeast U.S., I am enjoying retired life in sunny Florida. I enjoy photographing many different kinds of things, but especially flowers and animals, including the beautiful birds found here in Florida. I am currently using a Canon EOS Rebel XSi/450D camera, a Canon 55-250 mm telescopic zoom lens, and a Sony P10 Cyber-shot digital camera. My newest acquisition is a Canon PowerShot SX260 HS, a point and shoot which I will be carrying in my purse.

What a wonderful story (and memory for you)! Not a doll I remember, but by 1979 our daughter was 11 and never was much into dolls anyway. Jenny’s sure cute!

  • Thanks Monnie!
