Canon PowerShot SX260 HS; 1/500s, f/6.8, ISO 160, focal length 90.0mm; AUTO setting

I spotted some beautiful white cattle while driving past a cattle farm in Ocala, Florida, so of course asked my husband to pull over so I could get some photos over the fence. This one seemed to be talking to me. Seeing a face like this once again makes me want to stop eating meat, something I’ve had only fair success with.

Having lived most of my life in the northeast U.S., I am enjoying retired life in sunny Florida. I enjoy photographing many different kinds of things, but especially flowers and animals, including the beautiful birds found here in Florida. I am currently using a Canon EOS Rebel XSi/450D camera, a Canon 55-250 mm telescopic zoom lens, and a Sony P10 Cyber-shot digital camera. My newest acquisition is a Canon PowerShot SX260 HS, a point and shoot which I will be carrying in my purse.

The white ones are especially pretty, aren’t they? And there’s nothing much worse than those soulful cow eyes to make you rethink your eating habits (at least for a little while)!

  • That’s right, Monnie. Sometimes I feel so guilty eating meat, but I must say I’ve lost a lot of my taste for beef. Something must be working on my subconscious.

pale cattle like this always seem extra soft and you really notice when they are clean, like this one. Lovely capture!

  • Yes, you are right! I really enjoyed coming across a herd of these. I’ll post another showing all of them.

What a sweet capture…and I love the title! Since cows are one of my favorite animals…I like to tell myself that meat grows on trees. :o)

  • Thank you so much, Dana. I try not to eat very much meat anymore.
