Every time I see lily pads, I think of Claude Monet. I tried to make my photo of these lily pads look a little impressionistic. By changing the colors, I think the shapes and patterns of the lily pads stand out in a more abstract way. Photo taken outside Red’s Restaurant in Hernando, Florida. The original photo is shown below.

My Original Photo

Having lived most of my life in the northeast U.S., I am enjoying retired life in sunny Florida. I enjoy photographing many different kinds of things, but especially flowers and animals, including the beautiful birds found here in Florida. I am currently using a Canon EOS Rebel XSi/450D camera, a Canon 55-250 mm telescopic zoom lens, and a Sony P10 Cyber-shot digital camera. My newest acquisition is a Canon PowerShot SX260 HS, a point and shoot which I will be carrying in my purse.

Striking image! Really big fan of this. Lily pads seem to represent community or families- how many touch each other then there is a gap between them and others. Awesome image. :)

  • Thank you so much…I’m so pleased you like it! Interesting observation about community or families! So true!

  • Thank you so very much, Rick. I happened upon the Cross Process feature in Picasa3.9 and with a little other fiddling around and tuning, this is the result. So pleased you like it!

Well if I was a frog this would be Paradise for me dear Aunty Dot

  • Thanks so much, John. I didn’t see any frogs, but there were several beautiful koi of different colors in there. I was too slow with the camera to get a decent shot of any of them. Good thing I carry my old point & shoot in my purse or I would not have gotten any shots at all of this little pond.
