Azaleas in January by

Though it’s winter here in Florida, some of my azaleas are blooming. This pink and white variegated one has a fairly large flower. Photographed in my yard in Dunnellon, Florida in January 2012.

About AuntDot

Having lived most of my life in the northeast U.S., I am enjoying retired life in sunny Florida. I enjoy photographing many different kinds of things, but especially flowers and animals, including the beautiful birds found here in Florida. I am currently using a Canon EOS Rebel XSi/450D camera, a Canon 55-250 mm telescopic zoom lens, and carry a Sony P10 Cyber-shot digital camera with me most of the time.

  • Thank you, Sylvia. There aren’t too many blooms this time of year, but a few anyway.

Beautiful – they’re growing indoors in pots here, too, but definitely not outdoors in the snow!

  • Just a few blooming here since we’ve had some pretty cold nights. Most will bloom in March.

Looks like early spring, the seasons are a little up and down. They are beautiful blooms, love the colour, wonderful capture Dot.

  • It’s quite different here in Florida. Many of the azaleas bloom two or more times a year. A frost (it happens overnight usually once or twice a year) will kill the blossoms. I have one bush in the front of the house where the blooms froze on the side away from the house, but those that were facing the house survived. I guess they were just a mite warmer.
