Please enlarge to see this beautiful yellow butterfly sipping nectar. I wonder if it feels like drinking through a straw. Taken at Sholom Park in Ocala, Florida.

Canon EOS Rebel XSi/450D, Canon 55-250 lens
1/320s, f/6.3, ISO 100, focal length 250mm, hand held

Having lived most of my life in the northeast U.S., I am enjoying retired life in sunny Florida. I enjoy photographing many different kinds of things, but especially flowers and animals, including the beautiful birds found here in Florida. I am currently using a Canon EOS Rebel XSi/450D camera, a Canon 55-250 mm telescopic zoom lens, and a Sony P10 Cyber-shot digital camera. My newest acquisition is a Canon PowerShot SX260 HS, a point and shoot which I will be carrying in my purse.

Hehe Love it! Love It! Love It! Sorry I have to be this excited..LOL…I spent many hours and days in a feild by my house capturing this little creatures..They detect movement and its kinda hard to capture them! So when I see one as good as this..out comes the love it!!!! LOL Great Capture AuntDot! Well done..

  • Well, be careful now or you’ll give me a fat head! I was just lucky and the butterfly was probably happy to find this little patch of colorful flowers. I’ve been looking at this photo and also the orange one I took for a while now, and just noticed their long proboscuses (sp?) extended. I was so surprised to get this detail, and I was even more surprised because I had no tripod and my zoom lens was fully extended! Anyway, thanks so much for the enthusiastic comment. I truly appreciate your support!
