This huge wild mushroom and several others appeared this morning in front of my house in Dunnellon, Florida. It reminds me of a little tiki hut for the bugs.

Having lived most of my life in the northeast U.S., I am enjoying retired life in sunny Florida. I enjoy photographing many different kinds of things, but especially flowers and animals, including the beautiful birds found here in Florida. I am currently using a Canon EOS Rebel XSi/450D camera, a Canon 55-250 mm telescopic zoom lens, and a Sony P10 Cyber-shot digital camera. My newest acquisition is a Canon PowerShot SX260 HS, a point and shoot which I will be carrying in my purse.

Now that is what I call a MACRO Dot!!! superb capture!!!! :)))

  • Thank you, Cookie. Can’t get down on the ground and expect to get up again, so I just bent over and held the camera parallel to the ground and pushed the button, sight unseen. It worked! LOL

Cool, Dot – we’ve got half a dozen in our back yard too! They’re really neat!

  • Thanks, Monnie. They pop up overnight! I never know what to do with them, so I just leave them for the lawn guy to mow ’em down.

Dot, beautiful macro! Looks like the poisonous ones growing in Broward County. Believe it is the False Parasol or Green-spored Leoptra. Good POV and image!

  • Thank you, Glenn. Thanks for giving me names to look up. I don’t know any of them by name, except for the ones in the supermarket (the only one’s I’d ever eat!).

A really great shot! The POV is fantastic! It makes you feel like a bug.

  • He, he…if I was a bug I’d be underneath this big umbrella for shade. Today the mushroom tops are flat.
