Spotted this beautiful 1949 Mercury at the cruise-in at the “Hot Summer Night” block party in Dunnellon, Florida, August 13, 2011. I just loved the gleam of the chrome and the gorgeous purple paint job. (I see myself in 10 reflections!)

Having lived most of my life in the northeast U.S., I am enjoying retired life in sunny Florida. I enjoy photographing many different kinds of things, but especially flowers and animals, including the beautiful birds found here in Florida. I am currently using a Canon EOS Rebel XSi/450D camera, a Canon 55-250 mm telescopic zoom lens, and a Sony P10 Cyber-shot digital camera. My newest acquisition is a Canon PowerShot SX260 HS, a point and shoot which I will be carrying in my purse.

Another beauty!! You are spot on with the comp and angle! I love the contrast of silver and purple….STUNNING!! Such a wonderful job Dot!!!!

  • Thanks for that fantastic comment, Kristi. Really the only thing I did was mute the background and add the stars (see larger view). There was a bright red car parked next to it, so that was my challenge. So glad you like it! My first car was an 8-year-old 1953 mercury, so I have a fondness for old mercs!

Really cool perspective, Dot! That’s almost an eggplant purple – really unique! I know my dad had at least one Mercury while I still lived at home that I drove, but for the life of me I can’t remember which one!

  • Thanks so much, Monnie. There were people milling around, so I didn’t get a shot of the side of the car like I wanted to. Some interesting features there, but I love all the chrome up front the best (and the color!).
