Caught this blimp in the sky over my neighbor’s house. My husband thinks it’s probably doing some kind of surveying. You can see the cords, the wheels under the gondola, and the American flag. It was quite interesting to see in that cloudless blue sky, and it moved faster than I thought it would. Taken from my yard in Dunnellon, Florida.
I did find out that it belongs to the U.S. Navy and was brought to Florida for the winter where pilots could carry on training for re-certification.

Having lived most of my life in the northeast U.S., I am enjoying retired life in sunny Florida. I enjoy photographing many different kinds of things, but especially flowers and animals, including the beautiful birds found here in Florida. I am currently using a Canon EOS Rebel XSi/450D camera, a Canon 55-250 mm telescopic zoom lens, and a Sony P10 Cyber-shot digital camera. My newest acquisition is a Canon PowerShot SX260 HS, a point and shoot which I will be carrying in my purse.

A very unusual sight! Great capture of this dirigible!
Thanks, Judy! We saw it in Ocala the other day, but it was far away and impossible to get with my point and shoot. Today my husband comes in and tells me to “Get the camera, quick!” It was handy, so I ran out with it and got this shot. I hope to learn what it’s been up to for the past week.

Thank you, Rainy. I was lucky to get outside with my camera in time!

Excellent capture! Awesome blue sky!
Thank you, James. I was lucky to get this shot as clear as I did. I hand held the camera, and at full zoom I usually get a blurry picture, but this worked out okay. Must have held my breath at the right moment! LOL

Great shot, Dot … curious it has no name on it … maybe something to do with Google?
Thank you! I don’t know, Brenda. It’s been in the area about a week now that I know of. I hope to find out what it’s doing here.
