On my way into the Pharmacy, I spotted this little green dragonfly on a concrete pillar at the edge of the parking lot. Out of my purse came my trusty point-and-shoot, and I managed two quick shots before it flew away. As bright blue as the last dragonfly I captured was, this one was as bright green!

FEATURED in Neon Heaven, October 16, 2010

Having lived most of my life in the northeast U.S., I am enjoying retired life in sunny Florida. I enjoy photographing many different kinds of things, but especially flowers and animals, including the beautiful birds found here in Florida. I am currently using a Canon EOS Rebel XSi/450D camera, a Canon 55-250 mm telescopic zoom lens, and a Sony P10 Cyber-shot digital camera. My newest acquisition is a Canon PowerShot SX260 HS, a point and shoot which I will be carrying in my purse.

    An amazing capture…wonderful lit-up green…beautiful image!

  • Thanks Gena. This is the actual color, I just added a bit of a spotlight and cropped it square and hit auto tuning. I’m surprised it came out this clear — I got the shot off so quickly.

I meant singing like your other pic. Im tired, I think I had better go to bed xx

  • I’m tired, too…I didn’t even notice. They sometimes look like they’re singing, but I don’t think they sting…at least I hope not!

I’m glad you had your camera with you, Dot…what a cool green this guy is…excellent shot.

  • I got lucky with this shot. I just leaned my hand down and snapped, I didn’t have my eye anywhere near the camera. Thanks a lot, Lynne.

Never leave home without your camera! I always have my work one in my purse! :)

  • Hi. Yup, it’s always in my purse. I could use a new one with larger # of mp and a longer zoom, but this little Sony usually does a good job for me.

Wow! What an awesome find Dot! You captured this perfectly! Consider submitting to “High Key” and “Neon Heaven” groups?/

  • Thanks, Ronda. I don’t understant high key, but I’ll look into the neon group.
