I saw the sun streaming through the glass block window in my bathroom and loved the shadows that were forming on the narrow piece of wall at right angles to the window. I had to stand in the tub to get this shot. While I saw a bit of color outside the glass, and shadows of light and dark on the wall, the camera actually saw more in the way of colors in those shadows. I’ve added some tuning and saturation to exaggerate the effect. In the larger view, you can see the paint brush stokes on the wall, which is actually white. In the top block you can see the blue of the sky, the middle reflects the green grass, and the tiny bit of red in the bottom block shows the red leaves of a bush just outside the window. I love how the three colors were reflected in the different glass blocks. Taken in my home in Dunnellon, Florida.

Glass Block Reflections – Ribbons of Light

Having lived most of my life in the northeast U.S., I am enjoying retired life in sunny Florida. I enjoy photographing many different kinds of things, but especially flowers and animals, including the beautiful birds found here in Florida. I am currently using a Canon EOS Rebel XSi/450D camera, a Canon 55-250 mm telescopic zoom lens, and a Sony P10 Cyber-shot digital camera. My newest acquisition is a Canon PowerShot SX260 HS, a point and shoot which I will be carrying in my purse.

Goes to show you…you don’t even have to leave your home to get a good shot! The best stuff is right around us!

  • I agree, Debra, and I know if it weren’t for being on RedBubble I never would have seen this and many other things I’ve photographed. (Rust comes to mind….)
