Having lived most of my life in the northeast U.S., I am enjoying retired life in sunny Florida. I enjoy photographing many different kinds of things, but especially flowers and animals, including the beautiful birds found here in Florida. I am currently using a Canon EOS Rebel XSi/450D camera, a Canon 55-250 mm telescopic zoom lens, and a Sony P10 Cyber-shot digital camera. My newest acquisition is a Canon PowerShot SX260 HS, a point and shoot which I will be carrying in my purse.

the way the clouds are above the sun it looks like it drifted down into the sea

  • It descends pretty fast at the end. I liked the striped look to the sun in this one. Thanks for your comment, Susannah!

My favorite so far! I love the way you composed this with the water and sunset in the lower third of the photo, giving the sky a major role. Gorgeous!

  • Thanks, Judy. I’ll have to put this one in Photography – the Rule of Thirds Group. Thanks for mentioning the “third.”

    Beautiful capture Dot.

  • Thanks so much, Rosie. We finally got out to the beach to catch a pretty sunset. Last time we tried it all we got was rain.

    Stunning shot.
How are things going with the oil spill now, I have not been listening to the news of late as it is all so depressing.xox

  • Thank you so much, Brandie. At least the oil isn’t spilling anymore – they have a temporary cap on it and the permanent fix should take place sometime in August. Still cleaning up a lot of tarballs on beaches, but it seems most of the oil is hiding beneath the water or has been broken up by the dispersants, the heat and Mother Nature’s microbes. The economy in the Gulf states is really taking a hit, so we’ll see how it all turns out.
