This abstract is made from a photo of tree bark, manipulated in Photoshop. When I started to see the waves and the colors blend together in the processing, it was clear to me that I was seeing the oil slicks on the waves in the Gulf of Mexico. I was sad to see this develop, because it made me think again about the current disaster in the Gulf. Maybe my subconscious steered me to do this, and I felt compelled to post it here. Photo was taken near the Rainbow River in Dunnellon, Florida. I think this has a classy look as a tote bag or pillow.

Having lived most of my life in the northeast U.S., I am enjoying retired life in sunny Florida. I enjoy photographing many different kinds of things, but especially flowers and animals, including the beautiful birds found here in Florida. I am currently using a Canon EOS Rebel XSi/450D camera, a Canon 55-250 mm telescopic zoom lens, and a Sony P10 Cyber-shot digital camera. My newest acquisition is a Canon PowerShot SX260 HS, a point and shoot which I will be carrying in my purse.

This is such a sad thing going on..I have a hard time watching TV and seeing the animals caught up in it ..and the people out of work..depending on the water for their support..
this is beautiful work Dot and sends out a powerful message my friend..

  • Thanks, my friend. I get a knot in my stomach whenever I think of it or see it on TV. It seems so hopeless, especially for the defenseless animals. Breaks your heart!

  • Thank you for the fave, too, Kim.

I’m not usually a fan of ‘manipulation’ but this is an excellent and intriguing result, Aunt Dot!
The current disaster is depressing – just another result of over-confident humans ignoring all risks, even risks they have been explicitly warned about, and never mind the bloody planet that belongs to us all, humans, animals and plants alike!

  • All in the name of progress! Thanks for your wonderful comment and for the fave, Marjolein.
