Canon PowerShot SX260 HS;1/160s, f/5.0, ISO 800, focal length 29.8mm

This is the last car in a very long coal train in Dunnellon, Florida, U.S.A. As you can see it was raining. This photo was taken from the (wet) car windshield as we waited for the train to pass by. Slight HDR effect in Picasa7 to show the rain better.

Having lived most of my life in the northeast U.S., I am enjoying retired life in sunny Florida. I enjoy photographing many different kinds of things, but especially flowers and animals, including the beautiful birds found here in Florida. I am currently using a Canon EOS Rebel XSi/450D camera, a Canon 55-250 mm telescopic zoom lens, and a Sony P10 Cyber-shot digital camera. My newest acquisition is a Canon PowerShot SX260 HS, a point and shoot which I will be carrying in my purse.

I used to love to see the caboose at the end of a train with the railmen hanging out the window and waving, but I think cabooses are a thing of the past. Wonderful image, you got a very clear image of both the train and rain:) Sandy

  • Thanks so much, Sandy! I grew up on Long Island, NY with the LI Railroad tracks on the other side of the fence in my backyard. I remember waving at the guy on the caboose and he’d wave back. Those were the days!
