Canon PowerShot SX260 HS; 1/200s, f/5.6, ISO 160, focal length 63.3mm (photo is cropped)

This egret paid a morning visit a few mornings ago and explored the yard before flying off. (The background is actually the road even though it resembles water.) Taken at my home in Dunnellon, Florida, U.S.A.

Having lived most of my life in the northeast U.S., I am enjoying retired life in sunny Florida. I enjoy photographing many different kinds of things, but especially flowers and animals, including the beautiful birds found here in Florida. I am currently using a Canon EOS Rebel XSi/450D camera, a Canon 55-250 mm telescopic zoom lens, and a Sony P10 Cyber-shot digital camera. My newest acquisition is a Canon PowerShot SX260 HS, a point and shoot which I will be carrying in my purse.

Guaranteed that’s not something we’ll see in our yard! Great catch, Dot!

  • Thanks, Monnie. It looks much clearer in my computer…I don’t understand why. Oh well!

    Beautiful Egret image!

  • Thank you, Kristi. Heavily cropped (I was at the front door with the camera) or it would be clearer.

Very nice, lucky of you to get visitors like this!

  • Thanks, Scott. Yes, I love the birds here in Florida. There was a small flock of them…..all but this one flew away before I could get the camera.

Great capture Dot, how I envy you having these beautiful birds in your garden. I’m hoping to get over there later this year to get some shots of my own, God willing. xx

  • Thanks Brian. They don’t land here very often, but sometimes I get lucky and see them, or some white ibises. I live in an inland county, so not too many waterbirds show up near here. Hope you do get down here for a visit!
