"I Do"

I wrote this as an exercise at Uni for writing silence into a poem. Not the word but the concept. I have no idea where these images came from, but I like them. :D

"I Do" belongs to the following groups:

All Things Poetic, Artistic, Philosophical

On the anniversary of his death
She entered the living room
Wearing her wedding dress

The cat watched as she
Watched herself
Laughing
Dancing
Making small talk
Lifting the veil
She kissed the cat
“I do”

She filled a glass
And sipped
Red wine
Careful not to spill it on
The pureness
Of her dress

Fiddling with the necklace
Which he’d hung around her neck
Never removed
She swirled about the dance floor
Their first dance
Alone

The cat watched as she
Exited the living room
Wearing her wedding dress
On the anniversary of his death

“I do”

Well it certainly paints a very poignant picture Stacey. I’m not much of a writer or poet but I do appreciate good writing when i see it… very well done.
