This was a piece of speculative art that I presented to Jon Anderson for cover use on the Yes album ‘The Ladder’ (1999). According to (then) Yes keyboardist, Igor Khorashev, the piece actually hung in the studio in Vancouver, BC during the recording of the album.

Ultimately, the piece was not chosen for use, and only a handful of prints have been made.

The tower structure was created using Strata 3D. The landforms, bridge supports, and various other details were created in Bryce, and the 3D image elements were composed and rendered in Bryce. All post compositing, painting, and effects were done in Photoshop.

Lovely! This is awesome! Hope you’ll add it to the Sci Fi Group!

(You can use the link to go there. Once you join, go to Edit Your Work and scroll down to Group Submissions. Tick off Sci Fi and save again. This is the method you would use to participate in any of the 2000+ groups on the Bubble. Hope to see you there!)

You’re welcome. Robert! Just to let you know, though… the Daily Pick is different than a Feature, “officially” at least. Daily Picks and the Sci Fi Showcase are just within the group. Features are recognized by the Bubble over-all. Not to worry though! Work in the Showcase WILL be featured (officially!) You will get a different banner and your work will be displayed on the Group Home Page (1st 2 rows). You will also find a notice from the site on your Feed. It may be a couple days but “watch for that!” And, there will be another presentation page but under Messages by date. I know.. a tad confusing! lol But BOTH are good. Both ways, way more people get to see your work.

By the way, a lot more people look than comment. Which is kinda sad, but that’s the whole idea of the groups. The more you’re in, the more who see your work. I will Bubblemail you a list of groups you might enjoy… probably tomorrow though. and you can check them out. Glad you joined Sci Fi! Welcome to the crew!

  • Nadya,

Thank you so much. It is so very exciting to know that this work—into which I poured so much of my heart and soul—will finally been seen by an audience larger than my immediate circle. Truly, it has been ‘locked away’ for fifteen years now, and I am just thrilled beyond words that is has finally found a home.

    Again, my sincere thanks,

    Superb . . .

  • it’s great to be appreciated. Thanks Hugh!

    – Robert Reiser

  • Thank you Hugh… much appreciated. It seems you are a fellow ArtMatic and Bryce fan. I’ve been digging deeper into ArtMatic lately, but it has been years since I’ve worked with Bryce. Still think the deep texture editor is best of its kind.
