Started astrophotography late in the summer of 2011. Every picture taken was from my back deck here in Pennsylvania.
Currently using an unmodified Canon EOS T3i, a modified Canon T3 and a QHY9M CCD camera to capture my astrophotos. My telescopes include an Orion ST-80T(80mm), a Meade 8" LX-50 Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope(SCT) and an Orion ED102CF refractor. All deep sky pictures have been taken at “prime focus” which means the camera is coupled to the telescope with an adapter and the telescope becomes a sort of a telephoto lens. Exposures times vary from 30sec to 20 minutes. The photos are then aligned and stacked using a software called Nebulosity by Stark Labs. Then I use Photoshop CS6 to further adjust.
