Yuri Lev
A powerful composition, bold colors and subtle textures. The combination of red with the gash down the middle of the canvas carries suggestions of female sexuality, death, inhibition and struggle. The fluid horizontal brushstrokes work well with the rigid netting, setting up a cooperation with the title. The opening within the netting’s middle is a clever touch. Powerful wotk Astrid.

Thank you Yuri for such a deep analysis of this work… actually you’re right… I’m developping my series from one work to another… this time, a brand new element came in, the chain… next works will surely take this up because each time i find something new to integrate i get kind of addicted to it, like currently, i am addicted to these rifts in the backgrounds…
Best wishes for you… :-)

I feel like singing along! :-D
As for the painting, Astrid! I know you didnt plan it to look so, but the white line looks like a human figure – a genie… but why is the heart so much lower than the chest level?
Astrid Strahm replied
Thank you Anastasia… No the intention of the white line is to be a rift / gash in the background as I did before on other works… but interpretation is free… so let’s say it is a genie with a heart of rusted iron hanging over its belly button.. ;-) Keep having fun..
Lynn Moore
Wow! Now this is no fear of the canvas! Beautiful!
Astrid Strahm replied
Thank you Lynn… yes…such paintings work best on big canvases… and the best is… one can really let the mood out on them… ;-)
