Science would have us
believe
bears, bougainvilleas, and butterflies
came into being
because of a big bang.
But what was ignited?
Who lit the fuse?
That substance which exploded
creating planets, moons and stars;
did it have kernels of life in it
imbued with dreams,
ready
to emerge
as trees, frogs and water lilies?
Or did our eyes, lips and wits
haphazardly sprout
from chemicals accidentally spilled
under the sink
of chaos’ kitchen?

Oh my heavens – talk about coincidence! I just had this very same conversation, asked the very same question in reference to the big bang of a student of mine. I wish I’d had your marvelous and lyrical poem then – your approach to the age old question is much less pedantic and much more lyrical than mine! Absolutely a delightful way to ask an eternal question.
Assef Al-Jundi replied
we eventually come to realize that “coincidence” just means the universe is working in harmony with you…
please feel free to make a copy of the poem and to share it next time the question comes up~
Thank you very much, and cheers

I am so happy that I am reading your work…your poems are filled with excitement and wisdom..yes they would like for us to believe that this just came out of some chaos that is unexplainable…some theory….i have a theory about the masterminds behind the theory….
Assef Al-Jundi replied
I am happy that you are reading my work!
thank you for the enthusiastic comment, and for adding this poem to your favorites…
All the best~

Hmmmm, the Big Spill Theory, I like it.
Assef Al-Jundi replied
Yeah, that would be a good name for it, if chaos could only get organized enough to have a kitchen!!
Thanks!

stunning writing,
I’m going with the under the sink theory, for it makes more sense to me than any previous ones I’ve heard.

May I direct you to a tavern just down the road. There you will find a couple of intoxicated Sufi poets, Rumi and Hafiz. Share some wine with them…

that’s it!! I think you’ve figured it out.. Thank you.. I feel relieved now:)
Oh and awesome poem by the way, I like the lighthearted feel in which you explain the origins of the universe.
Assef Al-Jundi replied
no reason not to be lighthearted…
as for “origins”, it is a useful word here, but of little meaning in timeless dimensions
many thanks

God and science, all things connected..
and we all are,
universally, if/when awareness arrives,
..and live harmoniously in a consciousness state,
without ego making war to prove who’s right, or to ‘win’
or to ‘control’
Assef Al-Jundi
thank you for sharing your aspirations and inspirations…
yes we and all life are intimately connected… the more we awaken to that the better things are…

Well, I’ve pondered on this very same question for many years and looked in many places for an answer, but never under the sink. Now, where did that sink come from….......? And chemicals spilt by whom…..........? Love your work! Awakens and opens up the eternal spirit within to find the eternal spirit out. Good cheers to you.
Assef Al-Jundi replied
once in touch with the “eternal spirit”, a whole new way of looking at the universe opens up…
Many thanks, and good cheers to you as well~

under the sink, eh? it’s a good a place as any.
I still think it was Enki Ea swirling us in the petri dish…under the sink. ;)
love this.
Assef Al-Jundi replied
sometimes I think that the ancients with their personal spirit-selves were closer to understanding consciousness than all the heaven and hell and judging gods mumbo jumbo!
Yes, under a celstial sink may not be a bad place to explorell!
Thanks for the lovely comment~

Well your verse certainly has us talking friend…. I kept thinking where in the yellow pages would you find a plumber for this kinda of job ;o) .... A thoughtful poke into the sink of chaos indeed me thinks ….
Assef Al-Jundi replied
you will find many such plumbers (with PhD’s in astrophysics and such) willing to take on such job… unfortunately, I have never seen one finish the job, or stop the leaks!
Perhaps now with some adding quantum physics to their tool boxes, they are getting closer!
Delighted to hear that you are talking… that is music to my ears~

anyone who doubts the existence of an intelligent creator need only wait in the park until the parrots come down to eat seeds at dusk, or watch the infinite variety of sunsets – each different, all beautiful, or watch the flash of a silver carp in shallow water . . . the evidence of God is all around us. every time we open our eyes we see miracles – but we are too numb to feel their sacred nature. you are so right, my friend, chaos may have created my kitchen (it is a mess today!) but it can make no further claims on creation. well said!
Assef Al-Jundi replied
this is poetry! ; )
Intelligence, our own, and that behind everything around us, should be self-evident! But in our rebellion against the excesses of religion (power, violence, control,...) we have accepted this model of a purely materialistic (and meaningless) world; a byproduct of chaos where “natural selection” and “survival of the fittest” are the rules…
Perhaps that was a necessary, painful, step in our efforts to awaken to our true identities…
Hope the sink is in sparkling form by now ; )

one only has to look at the miracle of a child growing in the womb to recongnize creation… or the petals of a rose…and sunset skies bleeding the southern horizon. In these lay the answers.
Fantastic writing as always xoxo
Assef Al-Jundi replied
beautiful!
I am like you, I listen to the voices, and feel the pulse of life, in the miracles all around us…
