Shift

Shift

Come to this secret garden
You have been here before
Tasted exquisite fruit
Bathed
Immersed your senses
in its silent moons…

Come to our hidden night—
In your heart of hearts
you conjured it
Scented it
with your perfume

The flame you see
dancing
as you descend
is my passion

Come join me in this ancient
longing
to be consumed

Let our spirits twirl in weightlessness
Soar
entwined
to depths
unknown

Love
till we are so drunk with it
Float
all the way home…

the weightless garden of the sufi – where the beloved fills all the spaces between wine and the silent moon. a beautiful love song. rumi would take his turban off to you. x

  • Assef Al-Jundi replied

You honor me by making “Shift” a Favorite of yours…

Why do I feel that you are intimately familiar with the turban-less Rumi? ; )

I could always hear a beautiful music when reading your poems. This one is tender with secret flames. I only dare to taste the fruit less than a bit…

  • Assef Al-Jundi replied

I get an extra thrill when I hear “beautiful music” associated with any of my poetry, for although I love music, I am basically musically-challenged when it comes to playing it or purposefully writing “musical poems”...

Looks like you could have gone further with that last line?!

    many thanks~

The music is actually one of the key ingredients in most of your poems. No matter you did it on purpose or not, it becomes your signature.

I was hurry to go out at that time. But it’s better to stop there, before I get drunk :)

  • Assef Al-Jundi replied

I consider yours a wonderful compliment, and I warmly thank you…

yes, knowing when to stop is a very useful attribute ; )
