Aberdour Castle, Fife, Scotland

The castle complex of buildings ranges from the 12th to the 17th century. The 12th-century hall-house may be the oldest standing stone castle in Scotland. The tower and central range was severely damaged by fire twice in the late 17th and early 18th centuries making it uninhabitable. The majority of the castle lay abandoned for the next two centuries with the central range and tower falling into further disrepair. In the mid 19th century most of the walls of the tower collapsed, with a further loss in 1919.

The adjacent St Fillan’s is a restored 12th-century Norman church.

I completed two years study for a BA Photography, Film & TV in 1992 but did not pursue it any further. I bought my first DSLR in November 2009. I’ve been developing (please excuse the pun) my interest since then………

…. Oh, and aren’t all Scottish castles haunting, if not haunted? ;-)
