October 2011 Juried Invitational Exhibition

I wanted to interpret Janis Zroback’s dramatic work, Storm into Abstract Photographic Art, and she graciously agreed to let me. Here is her artwork, and my original inspiration.

When the storm came, it was like a roaring in her ears that would never stop…
Relentless it hammered on the roofs, streaming down the window panes obscuring the night…
Was it her tears, or the rain that was salt on her tongue?
Wind battered the trees, bending them to the ground..she felt their pain…the lashes burning her skin..
The torment of the skies was her torment… rooted to the ground she swayed in concert with the gale, twisting and turning, screaming with no sound…excerpt… by JZroback… The Last Storm

Abstract photograph of a concrete wall in Lockport, New York taken by JD Brummer for As Eye See Photography. The cracks and fissures seem to form a dark and twisted tree ravaged by a violent storm of wind and lightning. The graffiti adds a little color to complete the scene.

The tree the tempest with a crash of wood
Throws down in front of us is not to bar
Our passage to our journey’s end for good,
But just to ask us who we think we are….
” Robert Frost (1874–1963), U.S. poet.

Tempest was selected as a Featured Work by the groups Walls of the World in November 2011, and by Visual Texture and Accidental Images in October 2011, and by Abstract Macro Urban Art and Shameless Self-Promotion in Septemeber 2011.

Evoking emotions with her photographic interpretations of everyday objects is why JD Brummer’s abstract artistry has been exhibited in prestigious Art Galleries, juried Shows, winning Awards, & published in International Magazines, as well as Photographer’s Forum’s Annual Collection of The Best of Photography 2010 & 2011.
