Never Ending Corridors - Alessa Saga 3

She was not aware of anything after that. Nothing in the real world that was. Alessandra descended to a bottomless pit of fear and pain and the confusion of her own mind. She could not focus on anything. Her body whimpered but her soul screamed. From all sides she was bombarded by whispering and noise and suffering, her own and the suffering of other. She cried in her head, wished desperately to just be able to curl up into a ball and make it go away. Just get it away as far as she could and as quick as she could. She could see pictures of demons beyond imagining, repetitions of everyone one of her kills, everyone of the lives that she had taken, whether she knew about them or not. Whenever she was in the form of a wolf memory worked different, she often forgot things. And if she Changed because of fear, or loss or anger , if she was not in control properly then she remembered nothing. Nothing at all. She watched as she was covered in blood again and again, going down to the river every time to wash it off, sometimes off her skin, sometimes off her fur. She closed her eyes and sang soft songs to herself, trying to drown out the images. She didn’t want to see, she never wanted to be like this.

In her mind she walked through a corridor, and with every step she took it reformed itself. A cave, a hallway, a path of fire, a wall of picture, a set of cages. Sometimes she had to duck at the last second. Most often she had to run. To catch up. To stay ahead of the bottomless pit that threatened to eat her up and drop her into oblivion. She woke with a scream, and then a whimper as she felt every muscle in her back protest at her sudden movement. Beside her a man woke with a start and instantly his hands were on her shoulders and he was holding her down. Whispering some nonsense. She didn’t understand. She wasn’t thinking with the human part of her brain. Only the wolf part was working. That part of her that relied solely on instinct and nature. She snarled and bared her teeth. He raised his head showing his throat and released the pressure. She growled and subsided. Slowly. Then she returned and finally managed to think.
“Nate?” She whispered, entire body sore. She didn’t even try and move her legs.

He smiled at her, moving back. “Hey, girl. You scared us.”
Alessandra coughed," H.. how l…"
“A couple of days. I sent Darrin off to vent some anger. He wasn’t coping very well with… all this. How are you?”
She tried to speak and failed, settling for giving him a look that said ‘Do you need to ask?’ He chuckled, touched her comfortingly on the head and left. She sunk back into the bed a bit more and drifted into a slight sleep. Her voice was rough and she could feel a very stiff neck forming. She didn’t even have an hours worth of rest before someone stormed into the room and stopped dead at the sight of her. He left the door open so she had to squint her eyes to see. He approached the bed and very carefully embraced her. She didn’t have the strength to move to replicate it. He pulled back and sat on the chair beside the bed. Someone closed the door without coming inside. She opened her eyes thankful for the sudden darkness.
“You had me worried. I didn’t know what to do,” He whispered, aware that all her senses would be on high alert. You never needed to yell at a werewolf anyway, and right now he didn’t even need to speak even a little bit loud.

She didn’t say anything.
“The…. John said that the wounds, that they were made through silver burnings… or thats what he thinks… but Nate… how did you get them?” He could barely speak.
She could barely speak either. He knew. he had known. he had been her saving grace form her own darkness but this whole thing was just wrong. He needed to know this but she just didn’t want to say it.
“It… was like bugs… crawling under my skin… i couldn’t stand it any more… I’m sorry.” He grabbed her and held her a bit tighter then before, putting pressure on her many bandages coving her wounds, But at that moment…. she didn’t care.
