Air

Not enough
for a breath today
not enough to imagine
singing loudly
my favourite song

There is none spare
in this cloudy room
invisible,
that magical stuff
called air
is seeping through
the pores of my skin
floating upwards
in champagne bubble strings
disappearing
slowly
like me,
into the ether

Not enough for a breath today
my shattered heart
hath punctured my lungs
You can sit there
looking sorry my friend
but this battle may be over
before it ever begun

I watch
champagne bubble strings
float heavenward
lost,
like me
in the ether

Life is weird sometimes. Is it possible to unlearn how to breathe? This was rattling about in my head, so decided it was better out than in. Despite the slight melancholy, no hearts, lungs or rock anthems were harmed in the scribbling of this one… blame the Volcano lol.
