Fell in deep like with Jake the Clydesdale on a visit to a working farm. He got bored after the carrots ran dry and wandered off in disgust. So, here he is, set free on a beach & processed with love. A tribute to all the pretty horses and the peace they breathe into our battered souls.

Wow this is beautiful. Have you used HDR on it? Anyway, I love it !!!

  • Thank you kindly. No, it has been done using layers in Photoshop, playing with curves to create stark contrast and then hand-tinted to create warmth.

Stunning and slightly sad, his walk looks so laboured.
My grandfather was a horseman on a farm in North Wales, his job was to look after the heavy horses and carry out the different jobs with them that needed doing at different times of the year. My dad said he was so in tune with the horses – once he whispered in a horse’s ear and he reversed a cart an inch short of running over my dad’s foot which my dad didn’t realise was in the way. My dad says when it stopped the horse and my grandad chuckled at their little prank.
The role of the horseman died with the advent of machinery.

  • Hey Wendy thx for your lovely comment & story. I’m with your grandpa on the horse & it’s sense of humor…it’s all in those eyes.
Clydesdales are such a rare sight now, magical with their snowy feet. I remember making a b-line for the heavy horse stalls at the Royal Highland Show when I was little, sole purpose to share my polomints with the gentle giants…always a liitle awed by their looming size and kindly air.
