The Propeller

The Propeller

Painting of the propeller from the wreck of the Co-worker, a fishing boat abandoned in Ettrick Bay, Bute. Over the years I photographed and painted it in all stages of decay. Fascinated by the beauty of an otherwise rotting hulk. Quite sad when the winter storms finally finished her and her broken bones were taken away. The Bay looks empty now.
My Dad has the original & a print in his office which seems to have started many a curious conversation…so I thought I’d let you have a look too. (Acrylic & Charcoal onto smooth watercolour paper)

Thanks Roy. I was struck by the contrasts of colour in the subject matter & had to have a go at capturing it.
