Happy Thanksgiving, Canada! by

Ours is still over a month away, but our most intelligent friends to the north (or to the west as it is hereabouts) celebrate their turkey day at a more civilized time (not so close to Christmas, & more of a true harvest festival). It coincides with the rather odd holiday of Columbus Day in the US… but banks & post offices are closed, & Ray gets a day off, so who’s complaining. This year it falls on our anniversary, too, so here’s to every kind of mayhem, turkeys & navigators & Ray & Sheila (47 years), & may everyone enjoy the day what ever it brings!

Another elderly postcard from my collection.

It’s a great vintage card, Sheila!! And a Happy Thanksgiving to you! (You folks should celebrate in Oct!! :)) Sorry was unable to comment earlier, – we were busy eating turkey! :))

  • Had a feeling that was the case! Sounds like a good time. And I agree ~ at one time we gave serious consideration to the possibility of cooking a turkey in the oven of the little wood stove in our cabin near Huntsville, on Canadian T’giving, then having another feast on our day. All the same to me… but it never happened. Still could, I guess! Thanks, Laurie.

very nice Sheila and happy anniversary to you and Ray. iYou were obviously a child bride if you have been married 47 years

  • Heh heh. You’re most complimentary, but you’re also dead right. In that banner year, 1965, I graduated from high school, played footsie with Ray all summer, & then turned 18 on October 6. Two days later we got married. The rest, as they say (& they say it often enough to make it boring), is history. Who’d-a-thunk-it?? Thanks, Dave.

Hey Sheila, this would work as a T-shirt too!
Remember a Turkey’s not just for Christmas!
    :o) xx

  • And more than that, you are what you eat…. Thanks, Robin. Most of these old postcards would translate well to clothing. I’ve never done clothing… guess I should think about it!
