I Am NOT Just Another Bunny by

Eastern cottontail (Sylvilagus floridanus) ~ a common enough critter hereabouts, reviled by many for its love of tender new garden plants (remember Peter Rabbit ~ though he was the British variety ~ & Mr. McGregor?), but beloved in this neck ot the woods. We see much interaction between this bun & our famous squirrels, especially Lady Grey.

Not sure why she’s not just another Bunny… maybe because she’s MINE! Miss Doonifer in the myrtle… taken last year. But the myrtle bloomed all winter this time; we had very little snow & no cold weather to speak of, so this patch looks now as it did last summer. Anyway, a wee offering for Easter 2012.

A fine bunny indeed, sitting up so obligingly in the flowers! Well caught Sheila. :)

  • Glad you like this furry lady; in the dead of a snowy winter (not like this past one!!) we feed this critter Cheerios! She could eat myrtle ’til she bursts & still hardly make a dent in that patch. Thanks, Meg.

awwwww!!! Sweet!! This morning I saw the first bunny of the season in our yard. The hawks and my neighbor’s )#%*@) cats have really reduced the rabbit population on our street. But hopefully the ones that are left will behave . . . like rabbits!! ;-D I actually had to explain to a student why rabbits are considered a sign of spring and are associated with Easter . . . WHAT are they (not) teaching kids in school these days?!?!? ;-D

Jan – - who is still marveling over the Dream of Boulton Castle……

  • Thanks, Jan. Am laughing at your neighbor’s cats turning the air blue, & at your continued love of that Dream!! Thanks again for that, & as for those cats, they should be indoors! Isn’t it amazing what people don’t know? Fecundity Rules… at least in the rabbit world. (Our squirrels are pretty good at it, too.)

  • And thanks for favoring this bun.
