Tarbert Harbour, Argyll, Scotland ~ The Long View by

En route from Lochgilphead to the Mull of Kintyre, we passed through Tarbert, a thoroughly photogenic harbour town whose name comes from the Gaelic An Tairbeart. The harbour, actually East Loch Tarbert, an inlet of Loch Fyne, was particularly peaceful on this day, a good camera day. Take a look here & you’ll see another scene, taken from a different angle from a similar vantage point just along the way. Something eye-catching from any POV in Tarbert.

I love that riot of colour along the eye-line! And the reflected clouds for contrast. Lovely shot, Sheila!

  • Thanks, Tim, & for the favorite! I was happy with the balance. I was happy, period.

Wonderfully atmospheric shot and great use of the beautiful light. Excellent, Sheila.

  • Thank you kindly, Steve, & thanks for the favorite. This was a day of contrasts, but this was as ‘bleak’ as it got! Those great Scottish conditions.

Obviously you’ve given this photo a great dollop of Scottish lighting Sheila – those fishing boats really stand out and who needs bright skies and dazzling waters to get a stunning picture like this. Well done Sheila ! A favourite definitely.

  • Thank you, Sir Roy, & for the favorite. As I said to Steve above, it was a day of contrasts, & if you click on the link in my text, you’ll see what I mean ~ the two pics were taken within minutes of each other. Brilliant sunshine & clear skies a little later in the day, too. What a place!!

This one draws the viewer right into a serene scene. The bright colors on the right add great visual interest as do the vertical lines on the left. A charming image well-composed.

  • Many thanks, Dave. I tweaked it VERY slightly, but that northern light is really all the special effects any photographer needs. And it changes by the moment. Glad you like it! Happy Valentine’s Day!!

What a wonderful view, Sheila! You captured the serene mood as well as the beauty of this lovely harbor scene. Love the reflections on the calm water.

  • Thanks so much, Gene! Glad to see you; hope all’s well. And thank you for the favorite, too. Lots of great Scottish weather, & that day was one prime example!
