Just along the rocks from this scene was the ultimate destination of the rolling breaker ~ the constant crash & the rumbling, grumbling withdrawal. Ever-mesmerizing, the Atlantic, & this was right outside my window.
Unfortunately, the greenery that spices this photo further is that relentless exotic Japanese Knotweed (Fallopia japonica or syn. Polygonum cuspidatum), known colloquially as bamboo (not to be confused with the true bamboos of the east). This opportunist is a problem everywhere it’s been introduced (my dad unwittingly planted some on our property in Lewiston, NY, some 60 years ago, & it still wreaks havoc), though extremely sandy conditions among the rocks on the shore keep it from getting completely out of hand there. However, I have to admit it does add something to this photo ~ shan’t throw the baby out with the sea water.
