We headed down to the Mull of Kintyre one FINE day (29 September 2010), & caught the splendid little port town of Tarbert (Gaelic An Tairbeart) at her gleaming best. A picture every way you turned. Tarbert is perhaps the quintessential harbour town – compact, busy, full of color & movement. The ruins of Tarbert Castle, the last of three castles in the immediate vicinity, stand above the town, but when we were there, they were completely obscured by scaffolding. The body of water is East Loch Tarbert, an inlet of the much larger Loch Fyne.
