Kilnsey Crag At Last! Straight From The Camera!! by

Once upon a time, SteveMG took this FINE shot of Kilnsey Crag for me, & a mounted print of it hangs on my workroom wall. Last week, during our oh-so-brief return to N. Yorkshire, I had a chance to get a shot of this great beetling mass of limestone from the other side. I took a few shots, & while this one doesn’t highlight the overhang as much as some, I liked the general composition & thought it gave a fair sense of the setting as seen from the south. On our last visit, in 2007, I had no luck at all getting any kind of shot, so I was pleased. Kilnsey, Wharfedale, N. Yorkshire. 10 October 2010.

Fantastic shot Sheila, excellent work. Fave for sure.

  • Thanks, Gary! You know the feeling – take the photos, sort the photos, laugh & cry over the photos…. Was very happy with many, including this one. Glad you like it, & thanks, of course, for the favorite.

Now you’re really straying into my neck of the woods. This is a beautifully composed shot of the crag. Very well done, Sheila.

  • Thanks, Steve. I’m honored by your kind comment, & thanks for the favorite. I thought of you as we wandered around Brimham Rocks (that same day).

Superb capture of what must be a truly magical place, Sheila! This looks like a perfect storybook setting. Excellent composition and point of view! Your photograph is absolutely beautiful!

  • It is a magical place – so many intriguing limestone formations in Yorkshire, & this one heads the list in my book. It shows up in the 2003 Helen Mirren film ‘Calendar Girls’ in one brief scene. Many thanks for the high praise, Gene!
