Stacks of moiling, roiling cumulonimbus thunderheads turned the entire southern horizon into a hot fudge sundae just before sunset. We had been at a restaurant having dinner, & when we emerged, this was what met our wondering eyes. We drove southward toward our house, but the sight was so spectacular that we took a small detour to an intersection with a sweeping view, less than a mile from home. We weren’t alone ~ at that same intersection was a young man just setting up his tripod. We all agreed that this was one unusual & spectacular cloud event. From this vantage point, we made our way to two other sites, met up with other awestruck types; so more pics to come. We later learned that there was indeed some heavy weather to our south; it stretched for miles.
