Clearly Autumn ~Entering Loch Ness; Leaving Fort Augustus by

Late September, 2003. On the fine barge Fingal ~ spent a night moored in Ft. Augustus after making our way through the flight of locks. Such weather. SUCH weather! We were on the Caledonian Canal for six days, en route from Banavie (Ft. William) to Inverness, travelling with ten friends & Fingal’s extraordinary crew. A trip to remember, always.

A short bio, eh? I am Sheila, & I am short.

Ah, so that’s what ’it looks like under a blue sky! Super shot, Sheila.

  • That’s it! Spent my birthday in Scotland that year. We were off the barge by then, but on our last night out, the crew whipped up a cake honoring my birthday, our anniversary, & the anniversary of other friends who were on the trip with us. Good as it gets. Thanks, Steve.

Fantastic Sheila, I am so envious, I would love to make that trip …

  • Thanks, Tom. Well, just DO it…. here’s another shot, which I know you’ve already seen – Loch Oich Mist , & I’ll be posting a few more down the road.

  • And here’s Fingal’s website. One of the advantages of this kind of trip is that you can do as little or as much as you want. There’s a great below-decks common room, very comfortable for reading or playing games, but they also have canoes on board, & mountain bikes & a 16-foot sailboat, plus one-man boats.

Wow! This image looks like it was taken from a wonderful dream in paradise! Fantastic shot, Sheila! I love the wide range of beautiful blues! Simply gorgeous!

  • Thank you, Gene. The whole week was ridiculously brilliant. A couple of light showers, & one middling piddle when we were hiking around the Lochiel estate, but nothing that even hinted at really bad weather. It looked just like this….

    Beautiful Sheila :))

  • Many thanks, Mark. I’m beginning to think this is the only shot of its ilk in existence…. Guess I should set up a postcard industry….

    Fantastic shot Sheila…

  • Thanks, Jase. Another of those places you can’t exactly go back to – conditions unlikely to be the same. We’ve been there several times, but this weather was singular!! It’s always beautiful, though.
