Ray waits hopefully beneath the opening of an ornate fireplace at Ashby Castle, Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Leicestershire. I think he will do better at home because that’s where Santa expects him to be, after all. Cheers from Anywhere, Sheila

great work sheila
Thanks, S & L ~ I have another of him bent over & looking up the flu of a ground-floor chimney at Ashby, & I used both on the front of our 2007 Christmas card. Santa never did drop on his head.
Clever image Sheila, and like your witty out take on it. :-)) XO, Ron
Thank you, Ron – as you can see from my answer to Steve & Lesley above, this image has had a full life…. The inside of that card had a photo of me standing in front of a colossal Wellingtonia Sequoia in the grounds of the Ettington Park Hotel in Warwickshire, & the text read something like (front) ‘Ray Continues To Look For Santa…’ (inside)…but I prefer to wait under the Tree’.
Really great… makes you wonder how many did that
Thanks, Maureen. And thanks for the favorite. Hard to know – over my 60-odd (very odd) years, I’ve learned that people rarely have as much imagination as I would like to give them credit for, though there are several NOTABLE exceptions. I’ve always associated fireplaces with Santa above all things… back in 1970, on our first trip to the UK, I photographed Ray looking up the flue of the kitchen at Glastonbury Abbey. I’ll post the other Ashby one, mentioned above.
Nicely shot Sheila..
Thanks, Jason. I shoot Ray frequently, but he seems to stand up under the strain.
Many thanks! Nice to come home to this message….
