Detail of the fine bronzework on the doors of St. Peter’s Protestant Episcopal Church, State & Lodge Streets, Albany, NY. The building was erected in 1859. Its fine doors are works of art in their own right. For a wider view, see here .

Oh gosh.. note to self… gas up car and head back to Albany.. Love this! What a beautiful ornate work xo
Thanks, Maureen, & thanks for the favorite (this time I managed to find the fave in time to put it in the reply…). Yes, get thee to Albanee, & see what you can see.
Lovely detail Shelia.
Thanks, Rob – I wasn’t sure how it would look on The Big Screen (bigger than the monitor on the camera…), & was amazed & happy to see it blown up.
Beautiful work!! Great find!
Thank you, Arlane – much to see on this church, from afar & close up.
Wonderful image Sheila!
Thanks, JKK ~ wish we’d had more time in Albany; but turkey & cranberry called (loudly) from New England.
Excellent work, thanks fo rthe close up shot…amazing!!
Thank you again – I was completely delighted by the botanical theme; so delicate in bronze.
Hey, thanks, S & L.
Very nice abstract Sheila of the intricate art work. Well seen & composed. XO, Ron
Thanks, Ron – I love the botanicals. One of those situations where the close-up & the more distant shot were equally rewarding. I tilted it just enough to add interest value without making it too cute!
A beautifully detailed shot Sheila…
Thanks, Jason – I keep looking this image & pondering on what I can do with it…. We’ll see.
lol..I saw this photo and thought – I know EXACTLY where this is, before even clicking on it. Good shot! :)
Ha ha! It is a gorgeous door. We were staying on the 11th floor of the Crowne Plaza, & our immediate view out the window was of the gargoyles adorning the church’s tower. Many thanks, Jeannette.
See here .
Now I do hope you took a good rubbing of this fabulous door!! Superb detail :0) x
Thanks, Robin. To make a rubbing of this would be a major feat of derring-do, not to say strength. Pretty high relief for one thing. But isn’t it gorgeous? I was happy enough with the photo!
