For Joak...No Joke ~ Hanging In by

Hamburg Blackie hangs tough, & so does oor Joak. A rousing GET WELL from all his RedBubble pals will work wonders, for his liver AND for his whole self. Massive, non-infectious hugs from here….

joak, squirrel, get well

A short bio, eh? I am Sheila, & I am short.

Is that a BLACK Squirrel I see Sheila ? He’s certainly on the move……ha ha ! Great capture.

  • Indeed he is a Black Squirrel (black phase of the Eastern Gray Squirrel, actually), & he is the inimitable Hamburg Blackie. Here is a slightly out-of-focus (let’s say ‘soft focus’ for the sake of argument… & male squirrels LOVE to argue) shot of him showing him in considerably more detail. He was around for a season three years ago, & he was the consort of our beloved Lady Grey for a short (very) time. Thanks for taking a look at the dangling dandy, Roy!

Super catch and capture, Sheila. Ah…to be so flexible. Really love the POV.

  • Thank you much, Deb. All our squirrels are upside-downers at one time or another, & occasionally they just hang on & swing. I’m always amazed that they can eat in that position… must have terrific peristaltic action in those digestive systems… always defying the laws of gravity. AND, the good news is that Joak has hung in & is improving daily!

Or perhaps its a Ninja Squirrel!

  • This guy was DEFINITELY a Ninja Squirrel… he took nuffin’ from nobuddy. Never. Holy crushed nuts indeed. He managed to woo & win the indomitable Lady Grey, & little Hedgy was one of the results… the other three in that brood were gray, like Mum. Hangin’ tough. Thanks, Robin.

    Amazing capture!

  • Our gray squirrels seem to love hanging upside-down to eat… always entertaining. If I did that, I’d never get the food down… or up. Thank you kindly, Gena, & for the favorite!
