Sugar Surfeit

We TOLD him to keep his hand out of the cookie jar… erm, the remains of the Hallowe’en candy. But he managed to find something to stand on, & now he appears to be a bit blotto. Isn’t this one cute, wonky bear?

at least you have the bear to blame! What on earth is in the can?

  • artwhiz47 replied 24 days ago

Oh, Kay ~ your American origins are showing!! Spotted Dick is a popular British pudding, & it is available here in the U. S., canned as you see. But you are right to question – Spotted Dick contains flour & raisins (the spots), sugar, etc., & you boil it, like plum pudding. When I was looking for something for cock-eyed Ted to stand on, this immediately leaped to mind.

Am awfie glad yer awfie glad. Awfie glad you caught my raging double intentions, too; I canna help mysel’, either. My first plan was to set him up with a jar of Marmite somehow, but I’ve run out (& will probably never replenish the supply), but then I looked at him, I looked at the candy stash, & well, it all came together. DID have the can of puddin’ on hand ~ gave it to my husband as a birthday present…. Thanks ‘n aw.

Cock-eyed Ted was given to me by a friend who runs a shop – his ‘real name’, believe it or not, is Sir Ellsworth-the-Gold. Not only is he unintentionally wonky (my friend wasn’t sure how he got through quality control), he also has a funny little bubble in his right eye – can’t really see it in this photo – that could be the pupil gone wrong, or the beginning of a cataract. But he has found a home with us!! Ellsworth-the-Gold, Kt, & I say thank you.

PS You are not going to believe this but some locations in England have changed it’s name to spotted Richard for “school boy reasons”...political correctness gone mad!!!

I’m about to fly out the door, but I had to reply to this one posthaste!! This is just hysterical, but nothing surprises me. Has ‘Tumbledown Dick’ met the same fate????
