Art Unit did many varied sort of gigs ranged between hard core punk and jazz and orchestral and quite often we would have a cabaret evening… like this one in 1982 which featured Quietly Confident, The Imbo Illywackers, Honey West… who was a stripper with a difference…. and other fantastic acts…. this is the poster and it was designed by Philip ‘Charlie’ Rees

All these works you are adding these days – I can’t actually keep up with you it feels – so so many memories that have been too distant – too far buried for too long – some fun – but many so so painful that they were buried for a reason….
It IS time to bring them back… for me too.
but – I need more time to manage – so I’ll take it slow.
And – the strangest thing is that I was never in Sydney back then, I was never at Art Unit – I myself did not actually live in a squat (though maybe I’d have been better off if I did?) though others did…
but – this all feels so so incredibly close – and it IS close…..
I feel like I should take several weeks off to simply immerse myself in these old images you are posting here – and see where the memories take me – I’m sure I’d find out things about myself that I never allowed myself to know back then.
