I went to San Antonio last week. I hadn’t been there in a while and I was surprised at how many changes have been made to the grounds and security. It was a real challenge to get this close to the front doors of the Alamo and I was given only a short time to take this picture. I included a part of the pillar to the left, where it is believed to be the place where Davy Crockett was bayoneted to death, by three Mexican soldiers. The doors have a special meaning to Texans and Americans alike. This is not the usual picture most people see and remember, when they think about the Alamo. I wanted you to see it close up. The photo has not been touched up in any way. Look closely and you will see the bayonet marks on the door, and the many bullet holes in the building and door.
