A New Day ~ Johnstone River, Innisfail, FNQ. by Kerryn Madsen-Pietsch
A really tranquil, quiet time to the start of a new day. Shot taken early Dec. morning overlooking the Johnstone River, towards the east coast, Innisfail, FNQ, Australia.
As is above, so is below – streaky cloud patterns, land/tree forms and softly fused sunrise colours are mirrored in the near calm and still tidal river water surface.

Hallo Kerryn, what a lovely composition. I like the morroreffect. My suggestion is, cut of a little bit from the river (bottom) so it is the same clouds like in the sky ? I think then it is absolutely perfect.
Hi Martina. Yeah thanks for your helpful tip and I understand what you are saying and I will try it. I have other images too I’ve been contemplating/mulling over, with slightly varying compositions as the sun rose that morning. 8 )
With this one I was trying to avoid a dead centre 1/2way (land) line and there are those wonderful water ripple lines right in the foreground (made by fish) which leads the eye into the next mid level/layer of mirrored reflections and stillness.
