Personally developed archetypal symbols were part of the inspiration for creating Inner Well-Being, with some of their meanings explained as follows:

  • Blue parallel lines/spatial dark background – signifies various planes/levels of hidden/secret passage; for the inner-life – meditative, space to go within and beyond for contemplation, reflection, privacy, nurturance, quiet-time, quest, soul renewal.
  • Vessel/s – the well, representing the body, alchemy of polarity energies embodied within our ‘being’, shadows
  • 9 (vessels) – symbol for ‘prayer’; time, cycles, representation of values
  • Stitching – representing daily spirit activity, time, numbers, pathways
  • Blue/Gold metallic colours – inner alchemy
  • Open/Closed 3D object – receptive, passage, journey, transit, hidden, void, consciousness/non-consciousness states.

About Kerryn Madsen-Pietsch

My creative art practice may be be succinctly summed up in the following fantastic metaphorical quote by Kandinsky:

“Colour is the keyboard, the eyes are the harmonies, the soul is the piano with many strings. The artist is the hand that plays, touching one key then another to cause vibration of the soul.”

A beautiful piece of work kerryn, love this x Butterflies come to mind :)

  • Hi Linda, thanks. Yes, I can see a resemblance. 8 ) Indeed, one could flap those stitched paper sides like butterfly wings … 8 )

I originally was going to plant an actual small 3D fibre vessel, same shape, in here but by the time I had painted/stressed the timber outer box edges, the brown vessel colour looked too much. So I then substituted with the blue paper shape instead, which sits raised on a small rectangular piece of clear perspex. I need to attempt another artist book box work with the actual 3D banana fibre vessel inside from the start I think!
