I just love the rich vibrant magenta (fuchsia) colour combined with the soft delicate semi-transparent petal layers of this zygocactus flower. The background abstract aqua colour shapes are such a delight too.
Grown at home. Location – Near Innisfail, regional Tropical Far North Queensland, Australia.

My “creative art practice” may be be succinctly summed up in the following fantastic metaphorical quote by Kandinsky:
~ “Colour is the keyboard, the eyes are the harmonies, the soul is the piano with many strings. The artist is the hand that plays, touching one key then another to cause vibration of the soul.”

isn’t light amazing? this is sweet and I am in love with this plant, I’ve had one for years that just blooms once a year in November… nice work!

  • Yes light is and thankyou. Was really pleased that with my standard photo equipment and considering the delicate nature of this subject matter I finally captured one I was really pleased with.
A once-a-year bloom (June here down-under in Oz) just doesn’t seem fair enough hey linaji. But the upside is they multiply each year, so twice as many blossoms to enjoy. 8 )
