SOME INFO. ABOUT

  • Family: Taccaceae Native origin: India.
The true flowers (below dorsals, centre) are like thick purple buttons and the huge whiskers hang from the flowers to about 600mm below.
  • Variations: the bracts are purple or pure white and the whiskers white or purple. The Giant Bat Plant has big broad broad glossy leaves 350mm across and 750mm long.

My “creative art practice” may be be succinctly summed up in the following fantastic metaphorical quote by Kandinsky:
~ “Colour is the keyboard, the eyes are the harmonies, the soul is the piano with many strings. The artist is the hand that plays, touching one key then another to cause vibration of the soul.”
