Artist's Description

I have a few different coloured zygocactus plants growing in hanging pots situated underneath my high-set house in indirect SW sunlight. The delicate soft pastel white-pink flowers are always a definite favorite. They bloom at home during June-July, our tropical winter months. Location ~ Innisfail, Tropical Far North Queensland, Australia.

*_Inspired_ by the challenge to capture nature’s more unusual designs.

Common name: Zygocactus, Christmas cactus, and Crab’s claw cactus
Botanic name: Schlumbergera truncata Hybrids
These succulent plants are native to tropical rain forests in the mountains of Brazil, where they grow on tree branches as epiphytes.
