  • POEM
    First light’s breath
    Early Autumn
    Still tropical dawn
    Touches soft white
    Long stemmed
    Water lily bud
    Gently nudged
    White long petals
    Outwards wide

    First half morn glory
    It’s candle flame-like centre
    Barrier walled
    Lengthy yellow-tipped peaked fingers
    Tightly layered
    Coaxed in hours passing
Circular top opening out ever so slightly
    Slow expansion, half shy
    Getty ready, waiting
    Half exposure,
    Sheltering virgin pollen
    But wait
    Two’s afternoon bright light
    Petals upwards, drawn nigh
    Enveloped again
    In bud-like form

    Until tomorrow’s early morn,
    Darkness surrounds
    Nocturnal second arising, opening
    Cool white pristine bloom
    First light’s breath
    Draws full exposure
    Virgin pollen temptress
    Yellow prongs splayed
    Half day light
    And then,
    Final closure.

My “creative art practice” may be be succinctly summed up in the following fantastic metaphorical quote by Kandinsky:
~ “Colour is the keyboard, the eyes are the harmonies, the soul is the piano with many strings. The artist is the hand that plays, touching one key then another to cause vibration of the soul.”
