Mixed media: Archival ink, acrylic, lino print/collage on gessoed board.
My diptych artwork entry into the Hidden Treasures Postcard Exhibition, Cairns Regional Gallery’s Annual Fund Raiser, Oct.23 – Nov.6 2009. Sold by the silent bidding process.

Work Description
An original diptych, first of its kind, combines V shape vessels with drawing, lino print/collage and painting techniques. The work incorporates symbolic organic shapes and patterns and melding of impressionistic influences inspired by my tropical environment and surroundings, such as the undulating landscape, rainforest, sea, organic colours, and the banana fibre vessel forms that I make.

My “creative art practice” may be be succinctly summed up in the following fantastic metaphorical quote by Kandinsky:
~ “Colour is the keyboard, the eyes are the harmonies, the soul is the piano with many strings. The artist is the hand that plays, touching one key then another to cause vibration of the soul.”

Absolutely beautiful work – the detail is amazing but the design is still loose enough to be evocative and it reminds me of the power of the land.

  • Thanks so much Julie-Ann for your wonderful comments. It is indeed the power of the land in my psyche.

Lovely work Kerryn, has a feel of ancient Cretan drinking vessels of same shape and similar flow in their patterns, very nice! :O)

  • Why thank you Vanessa.
