Artist's Description

An adult male southern cassowary, also father of a half grown chick at the time, is a wild native flightless bird living in the tropical rainforests of our FNQ region.
“The southern cassowary is also known as double-wattled cassowary, Australian cassowary or two-wattled cassowary, is a large flightless black bird. It is a ratite and therefore related to the emu, ostrich, and the genus Rhea.” Wikipedia
Location – Etty Bay beach, near Innisfail, Queensland, Australia.
He was limping on his left leg. You can see that his ankle area is swollen.
